Truvelle: 2014 Lookbook

5 May

Many of my Bridal client’s already know the mad love I have for these gowns, I can’t say enough good things about them… but for those of you who are just stopping in, or maybe you’re a first time reader here, You couldn’t have picked a better post to join us on 🙂

Today I share with you, a sneak peek into the 2014 Bridal look book I was a part of recently for Truvelle. I was honored to be a part of this shoot, working with an amazingly talented team, and of course Gaby with her stunning gowns!

A little about this company: Gaby previously worked with Ellebay Bridal Boutique. Last year, Gaby branched off and created Truvelle; wedding dresses for the modern bride that are unconventional and effortlessly beautiful.

Based in Vancouver, Canada. These stunning gowns are made from scratch. Gaby creates made-to-order wedding dresses, with a heavy emphasis on design, fit, and quality. All of her patterns are handcrafted and perfected, with carefully chosen fabric that is individually hand cut, and each gown has its own unique story.

In her first year, Truvelle dresses have been named as one of the favorite dresses of the year on many of the top blogs!

Take a look!

Vendor Spotlight: Kustom Kissers

10 May

Good afternoon fellow brides-to-be!

We just love this vendor and had to do a post on them today!

Kustom Kissers is a company, run by Heather, and they specialize in custom made chapped lip protection!

One of our favorite in our “neat ideas” section, they’re simply wonderful for weddings, favors, bridal and baby showers, birthdays, or just about any other event you can think of.

Here’s how it all works:

You get to choose your flavor.

There are lots of yummy flavors to chose from such as their Original, Vanilla, Mint, Cherry and my favorite Blue Raspberry.

After which you then personalize them by adding your own image and/or text to the packaging.

Many brides opt to print their wedding images or engagement pictures with their wedding date, but really it’s whatever your heart desires…. We’ve seen client’s do baby images, pets and more.

As an added bonus, they are made from ALL NATURAL and earth friendly products – how can you not love that!?

Ingredients include; organic soy bean oil, sunflower oil, palm oil, olive oil, avocado oil, beeswax, cocoa butter, shea butter, Vitamin E, flavor, fd&c colors. They naturally provide SPF 15 in them too for a little added protection for your pout!

Vendor Spotlight: Kailey-Michelle Events

2 Dec

Today I wanted to take a few minutes out to introduce you to an amazing Planner/Coordinator we have  had the pleasure of working with throughout this past season, she is one of our favorite vendors in this city!

Meet Kailey-Michelle

She is a passionate curator of perfectly pretty events and fabulously crafted details.

Her heart lies in stories.

From the very first glance, to the heartfelt ending, her mind wanders to create unique events; personalized and crafted through love.

She is a visual story teller and to her, events are an art form.

She creates an ambiance of grace; familiar yet, surreal and It is with immeasurable passion that she brings your love to life.

She is an advocate of impeccable organization and flawless execution; timing is everything, flow is essential and planning is key.

A designer and a logistical perfectionist. Coupled together, She’s been crowned a “mighty mouse” in this city.

She presents your story….

Genuine in passion. Crafted in love. Authentically you.

Her Story:

After working in the wedding industry for over four years, I discovered there was a hole in the Vancouver wedding market. We boast some incredible talent, but the focus seemed to lie on two exact opposites: the grand ballroom setting or the rented hall reception. There rarely, appeared to be a middle ground. {up until recently, that is.}

My other observation, was that most stylist’s and decor companies, focused on traditional looks and their inventory of products, lacked unique pieces that the vintage wedding revolution has inspired.

For years, I’ve watched the international wedding market, attending destination conferences and trade shows. I aimed to adopt their mentality and style, in hopes of bringing it to a local market, where “home-grown style” still seemed to be void.

My desire was to show couples how to bring the elements of their everyday life, like family heirlooms, daily “rituals” and favorite memories, to their wedding and emulate their personal surroundings and taste; to create an environment that felt familiar yet surreal. I wanted to introduce non-traditional and forgotten about settings, like local parks, heritage houses, and rural land (barns, fields, forests etc.)

From this desire, Kailey Michelle Events was launched.

Specializing in intimate and intricately-crafted affairs, I place great value on personalized accents and sophisticated, home-grown touches.

From design conception to impeccable styling, I create an ambiance of grace and transform each occasion into a work of art, meticulously detailed.

Through seamless execution and flawless logistics, I present clients with their unique and personal wedding story, perfect and authentically them. I aim to transcend current trends and present genuine affairs.

{To me, It’s not about re-inventing the wheel, but rather making it your own; precious and special, for reasons close to your heart.}

No matter my clients budget or whether or not they’ve seen their vision in a magazine, my goal is set their love story on fire and create a day, that magnifies the true beauty of their eternal commitment.

I welcome the opportunity to know you and hear your dreams.

Allow me to present…

Your love. Your story. Your way.

Vendor Spotlight – Darko Sikman Photography

27 Jan

We’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Darko a few times over the season. Each encounter has been amazing, not only is he a wonderful person but he takes amazing photographs and we  just had to share a little about him!

Darko’s path to becoming a Vancouver wedding photographer is a bit unusual. When he tells people he just moved here this past summer they usually ask: “Where from?” and that is a tough question for him to answer. For the past 10 years Darko has been traveling around the world and rarely had a fixed abode. It was supposed to be a 6 month trip but nobody warned him that traveling was going to be so addictive so he just kept on going.

It was a dream lifestyle: Photographing the wildlife in Africa, Caribbean Sunsets, iconic places like Sidney Opera, The Great Pyramid or the Taj Mahal and glaciers in Alaska, Arctic and Himalayas. But Darko’s passion has always been photographing people. His portraits from his travels range from the gorgeous little kids from the mountain villages in Lesotho to the gorgeous old man – The Dalai Lama. Throw into the mix some headshots for prospective Bollywood stars, fashion shoots for designers from Finland to Australia and you have a pretty eclectic resume.

When he is shooting weddings – and he has photographed weddings on 3 continents – he uses all of that travel photography experience to capture interesting moments like a photojournalist and when it’s time to take the bridal portraits; Darko’s fashion photographer side shows up to showcase the Hollywood glam and make you look fabulous, so you get the best of both worlds!

This wide range of experience will guarantee that the couple receives amazing images of their wedding day whether they are formal portraits, photo-journalistic capture of the event or precious moments that they might have missed.

You can find his images and get to know more about him on his blog: www.DarkoRoom.com and his Facebook.

Vendor Spotlight – B4 I Do Bridal Bootcamp

2 Jan

On your wedding day, all eyes will be on you. You want to look and feel your absolute best when you walk down the aisle. Begin this new chapter of your life with a healthier, fitter you. Get yourself in top shape before you say “I do”.

With new years now here and many people looking to change and challenge their lifestyle choices, I thought this would be the perfect time to introduce our good friends at B4 I Do – Bridal Bootcamp and owner/instructor Dee Clarke.

Brides spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on their gown, but the gown should not be the focus of attention. Your guests should notice you first, then the gown. With sculpted shoulders and a sexy back, toned arms and a trim waist every bride will feel confident and beautiful no matter what the style or cost of her dress is.

B4 I Do Bridal Bootcamp classes are designed with the busy bride-to-be in mind. Brides participate twice a week for eight weeks in an intense 60 minute, high energy, full-body bootcamp workout.

Participants can expect to improve cardio conditioning, decrease body fat and increase lean muscle. Classes consist of a warm-up, intense intervals of strength training and cardio, a cool down and stretch.

Variety, creativity, technique and effectiveness are all key components of these classes and guarantee you will always be challenged and never be bored. B4 I Do classes help reduce pre-wedding stress and leave you feeling energized. Nutritional information is also available to improve results!

B4 I Do Bridal Bootcamp classes are 6:30-7:30am, with one reason in mind, research shows that 90% of people who exercise regularly, do so first thing in the morning. Life is hectic and exercising early in the day is the only sure way to stay faithful to your fitness goals.

B4 I Do Bridal Bootcamp is based in Vancouver’s West End. Unlike many other bootcamps, our classes take place indoors (Denman Fitness 1731 Comox St.) during the winter months and Free underground parking is available.

All B4 I Do Bridal Bootcamp instructors are BCRPA certified group fitness leaders and have been leading bootcamps for a minimum of four years.

One of the benefits of exercising with other brides is the camaraderie and support gained from each other. Each bride has a goal date to look her best. Working out with other brides who understand the pressure and excitement around planning a wedding makes B4 I Do classes more fun and makes the whole wedding preparation experience that much richer.

We welcome women of all fitness levels and classes are small to ensure every bride gets the attention she deserves to look and feel her best for the wedding day… Bridesmaids are also welcome!

For more information be sure to check out their website for more details and let the happily-ever-after begin!
